Construction of this ouvrage of the Maginot Line began in 1930 and it saw skirmishes between Italian and French troops in June 1940. Like all the Maginot Line ouvrages, it was designed to offer troops self-sufficient underground living quarters. 343 soldiers and 11 officers were garrisoned there.
